This is the current Project we are working on at Downer EDI Site Maryborough Qld, We are currently replacing all mechanical Joints with Electro Fusion joints.
This is eliminating any possibility of air leaks which will in the long term save operating costs by reducing power consumption.
All removable joints are a combination of Butt weld flanges and Steel flanges bolted togeather so that regular maintance can br conducted.
This process is carried out by cleaning & scraping the pipe.
We then clean the fresh pipe with Acetone, then fit the appropriate type of coupling and connect to the welder.
The welder then reads the details via a bar code scanner and bar code on each fitting.
Once this is done the machine starts the heating process which bonds the coupling and pipe together.
When the required heat time is completed the welder turns off and the pipe is left to cool and cure.
This is a simple process that is extremly reliable.
