Are your Pump impellers blocking with Debris
Is Debris passing through your pipework and into your valves & sprinklers?
Debris and organic build up in an irrigation system can cause a dramatic reduction in the internal bore of a pipe, resulting in high energy use to pump the same volume of water.
There are many types of filtration and they must be selected properly
- 1. Suction filters & Screens
The suction side of the pump must be designed & installed carefully so as to be able to pump clean water.
The ideal pump foot valve should be a floating foot valve, depending upon pipe size & flow rate there are many to select from (Look in the valves section of this site)
Another Type is the inline Y Strainer. They come in various sizes,( please check the options in the valves section)
If either of these options are fitted to the suction care should be taken because if they block up. The pump will cavitate & eventually stop the pump from delivering water which can damage the pump. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE SCREENS BE CHECKED REGULARLY
Long Life, Energy Saving Filtration Products
Installing filtration products such as screen and disc filters can reduce build up and prolong the life of a piping system while also saving energy.
API
Spin clean screen filters – High quality screen filters for agriculture and landscape irrigation. AG Products Spin Clean™ screen filters are unique in that incoming dirty water is forced through a directional nozzle plate onto the inside of the stainless steel screen. This creates a centrifugal action which rotates debris down the screen wall to the large debris holding basin. Debris is flushed out via a ball valve or unscrewing cap. Spinning action keeps more of the screen area clean, minimizing pressure losses due to excessive dirt build-up.
Tavlit
Screen filters – Used for protection in drip, spray and sprinkler watering systems. Tavlit screen filters features include:
Disc filters – Compact disc filters for agriculture and turf irrigation watering systems. Tavlit disc filters feature:
- Swivel unions on inlet / outlet
- Chemical and fertilizer resistant
- Pressure test points inlet / outlet on 40mm & 50mm
- Removable flushing cap
Tavlit screen and disc filters are easy to maintain, chemical and fertilizer- resistant and have interchangeable filtration elements.
Yamit
Screen filters – Designed for use as control or head filtration for irrigation zones. Element made of PVC and coated with durable chrome mesh.
Disc filters – Designed for use as control or head filtration for irrigation zones. Element made of high grade plastic with discs in stack form.
Media filtration – This is used as the primary filtration for water from open dams, recycled water or to remove algae. It uses gravel or sand for depth filtration.
Hydro-cyclone – Designed for use as control or head filtration in irrigation zones and for the removal of suspended particles. Water flows freely on a spiral path along the length of the filtration chamber. Centrifugal forces separate the solid particles from the water. Solid particles then gravitate downwards to be collected in the underflow chamber. Clean water flows from the top
